We contacted Nokia, here is what they have to say

Some days ago we posted an article on Nokia, in which we posted news that they will/may be scrapping Symbian to focus on Windows. Well, apparently that was not to be. Atleast from what they have to tell us.

We had contacted them via online customer support, which also gave us a chance to rate their online team.

They were nice and professional to me, and responded to my query on the very next day. However, they did not quite answer my questions completely.

Nevertheless, we were happy. Here is my first letter.

Me:  I would like to know if you will be releasing the Symbian Carla and Donna, as a Belle update? If not what will you be releasing as the future for Belle? Dear Alvin , Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline. In response to your mail, first of all we would like to thank you for your interest in Nokia services and products, and we would like to inform you that we are really glad to assist you with all of your concerns. Regarding your concern we would like to inform you that, we have announced Symbian Anna, Symbian Belle and Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1. We have not yet announced any further software updates. In the coming weeks, we will provide more software updates for Symbian smartphones, and we will share more details with consumers closer to availability. -NOKIA SUPPORT TEAM

 

 

 

My second letter went to the Middle-East Help and Support team. And all they asked me to do was connect my phone to my computer and check for updates.

But still, if you look closely into the first letter, you will see that Nokia is well and truly sticking to their rules. They usually make announcements prior to the release of their new product software, and I am sure that they themselves may have been clueless about the Carla and Donna. But it now is a fact that they will not be scrapping the Symbian platform.
